I am a self taught photographer. I work in the service industry to pay my bills and take care of my family. Working full time and caring for a family leaves you dubious amounts of time to perfect your craft. During the slow season work was tedious and empty allowing for me to practice my photography when I should of been cleaning a bottle or something. But I'm a creative, not a career bartender. Don't get me wrong, I love the industry and I am sure it has helped most of the people on this website just as must as it has helped me. And I love it, mostly when I'm on the other side of the coin. But I try and learn my equipment and one of my favorite little cameras is my Leica D-Lux 4. So while I was learning this instrument I decided to utilize my free time and experiment with the shutter speed and long exposures of this camera. This photo was a result. There is something about it. The service industry is so fast paced and and so many people come through you can sometimes feel faceless or unrecognizeable, especially to the elitists. And the Bar back can be a thank less position. These workers have a tough job and do a lot of the dirty work. Next time your at a bar look at the Bar backs face and try and see him clearly; not just a passing figure!
